Description

Book Cover Design
Final Trim Size: 5.5 X 8.5 inches

The Title of the book is: The Glimpse

The premise of the book is a story of hope and survival amidst Christian persecution. The story has many dark elements of Christians being oppressed, but there is also a strong underground church surviving and growing. (A great example is the current underground churches in China and North Korea). The main characters have been transported supernaturally to this world. Although they are willing to help, and have accepted that God sent them there for a purpose, they have a strong desire to get back to their lives as they know it.

The best design will create a quick, vibrant first impression that is highly inviting to the potential reader to pick up and explore. It should not look like a horror book. Must also look attractive as a thumb picture for the e-book version.

Cover will be printed in full color front and back.

TO BE DELIVERED:
* Proof of the copyright/license to any images used
* Identification of all fonts used
* Completed file from original software (for this cover)
background without text in lossless graphic format (so we can modify it for softcover, hardcover, etc -- unless image is already included in separate layer in above file)
* A vector image of the title text (so we can reproduce it on the inside title page in black and white)

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Christian readers

LIKES AND DISLIKES:
* Less is more.
* The design should be simple enough to identify as a web thumbnail
* I like More visual than textual

OVERALL MOOD AND FEEL:
This is a "spiritual" theme but should not use overtly religious symbols such as angels, crosses, etc. This is a fiction book and there is a "clashing" of darkness and light. It would be great if the book cover had this element.

Although the title is "The Glimpse", this is metaphorical. I don't want eyeballs, for example. It simply means they are "glimpsing" into the future of the Church.

IMAGE SUGGESTIONS:I don't have a specific concept for the artwork/photo work and are looking for a creative idea.  I'm picturing the images to be almost dreamlike and abstract. I want the mood to be dark and eerie yet with hope, represented by light.

Further requirements

I am open to any other ideas and I will give comments promptly. I am also open to the design being very simple. No idea is wrong.

If you would like any more detail on the book, please let me know. I want to help your creativity in any and all ways.

**Added after designers ask for more information:

A group of modern day Christians are sent to what they assume is an alternate universe. This is obviously an incredibly strange situation for them, but they decide to accept it, in hopes they will be sent back soon.

In most ways it is like the world we see today, but it is against the law in America to be Christian. In the Prologue we learn that early on in the persecution, they rounded up Christians in an attempt to "re-educate" them. This didn't work and was abandoned, so more drastic measures were taken to remove what they saw as a threat to modern society.

It has a lot of New World Order Elements. The Christian-visitors end up at a school where they find a thriving underground church full of students lead by a teacher. They meet downstairs in the basement and have gone undetected until the visitors arrive. The underground group grows rapidly. The growth brings them to the attention of authorities who choose to deal with them swiftly and severely. It isn't until the end that they realize they were not sent to an alternate universe but the future of America.

The main antagonist is a detective fueled by revenge. Years before a "Christian extremist" bombed a school killing his wife and daughter. This causes him to be ruthless in his dealings with Christians. At the end of the story, he finds out that the Christian extremist that he thought killed his wife and child worked for the government. Years of hate was fueled by a "false flag operation" that was meant to incite hate and fear of Christians to the American population so they would be more willing to see drastic measures taken to see them removed from society.

The message of hope is in the youth that have the guts to proclaim Christ through the persecution. The hope is in the underground church.

Other than when the group is transported, there are really no supernatural elements in the story so I want to stay away from anything that looks "alien" or too eerie or ghost like.
