CloseDesign brief
This project is for the 300 dpi cover design of a book that I'm going to publish through CreateSpace. The book is full of tricks and insider secrets to survive natural and manmade disasters in an urban environment. It focuses on practical, proven urban survival strategies and not on scary "we're all going to die" scenarios, so please avoid "wacko" images.

My target audience is couples with kids and/or empty nesters who see the need to prepare for disasters themselves rather than depending on the government to save them when disasters happen. They are well read, hard working, and enjoy learning new things.
The majority of the audience is in the US
The cover design really needs to sell the book on Amazon and BN as well as in retail locations.
I need to get a book cover designed for a 6x9 book. The front cover will have the following text:
http://surviveinplace.com/bookcover.pdf < I don't really care for this design.
I will PM you the URL of the spine and back image as soon as you send an image for the front.
I want the new design to have a little more "POP!" like these 2 books:
http://www.amazon.com/When-All-Hell…60105X/ref
and
http://www.amazon.com/How-Survive-E…295831/ref
There is a companion set of cards to the book and the current design for the cards is here:
http://99designs.com/contests/34386
You can also see the old design at:
http://99designs.com/contests/31687
You don't need to match the card design...I'm merely including these designs so that you can see examples of what I like.
The design needs to be appealing to both men and women and should be geared towards a US audience (no Eiffel Tower).
Please submit your designs using the following CreateSpace template:
https://www.createspace.com/Img/Tem…BW_200.zip
I'll be choosing the winner both by picking the one that I like and by having a focus group pick the design that they like.
For the final file handover, I'll need the template in the proper format (referenced in the zip file) AND in a multi-layered format that I can open in paint.net. Good Luck
