Jon B. got their new app by running a design contest:
golfmix needs a new app design
Check out Jon B.'s App contest…
golfmix is currently best described as yelp for golfers. we want an easy way for golfers to find and review golf courses.
What's your vision?
In our current form golfmix is a golf course review site. Because we are heavy into reviews, we obviously like the Yelp app and its simple yet quality execution. So we envision our app functioning similar to the yelp app, but with our content and our look/feel. Version 1 of the golfmix app should include the following: 1. search for nearby courses 2. read/write reviews 3. course info/details/photos 4. map/geosearch 5. upload photos as you play and add "quick facts" as you play 6. favorite courses/bookmarks 7. top rated courses or nearby top rated courses From a look/feel perspective, it should mirror our site. Go to pages will be the homepage: http://golfmix.com and our course pages: http://golfmix.com/arizona/tpc-scottsdale/
Our target audience are Internet savvy golfers worldwide who love golf and want to be more engaged with the game. We envision golfers will use this app before, during and after a round of golf.

Jon B. collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
