Following the success of our Oakland and Berlin community contests, our European office set out to launch another one; this time in search of an amazing Munich poster. The results were, once again, spectacular.
Designers were asked to create a poster design related to Munich’s traditional character, without lapsing into stereotypes. They were welcome to play around with clichés like wheat beer, pretzels and bavarian sausages—so long as it happened with a certain level of irony.
We invited designers to explore Munich landmarks (such as the Englischer Garten, Pinakothek der Moderne and the Brandhorst museum), typography, maps and a variety of styles. Most of all, we wanted these posters to reflect the perception of the people living in Munich, not a touristic point of view.
