What's your vision?
We are looking for someone to design the artwork of a non-fiction book. It will include the entire spread of book cover -- front cover, back and spine for both a print book and an e-book Below is the content that the designer will need. FRONT COVER Title: Leaving Thomas Subtitle: A Decade of Lost Traveling, Years of Self-Reflection, and a Winding Journey to Self-Discovery by Tom Hartwell BACK COVER will consist of a description of the book, 3 testimonials, and a short biography of the author. Description: In the summer of 2001, Tom Hartwell made the biggest decision of his life. After working in New York City for more than a decade, he decided to quit the Big Apple and attempted to live around the world, a different country each month. What he discovered was more enjoyable than he ever imagined and in the process left his entire previous life behind him. Ultimately, it was the only way for Tom to find out who he really was. 3 Testimonials: “This book is a must-read for anyone who lives in New York City or is thinking about moving to New York City. I loved it!” -- James Harding, author of The New York Times best-seller A Life to Lead. “What Tom has accomplished with Leaving Thomas is truly inspirational. It should be read by anyone who is considering living in New York City.” -- Fiona Smith, author of The New York Times best-seller Follow Your Dreams. “I couldn’t put Leaving Thomas down for one minute. It was riveting from start to finish, and I highly recommend it to all teenagers.” – Peter Petters, author of One Way Stop, Cucumbers and Potatoes, and The Lemondrop. Short Biography: Tom Hartwell is one of the most well-known sneaker bloggers in the U.S. He has been called “a sneaker authority” by The New York Times and “one of the country’s leading sneaker experts” by Toptop Magazine. He is the publisher of Sneaker Times, the shoe industry’s leading weekly newsletter, the founder of Sneakersforsale.com, the country’s first directory of collectable sneakers, and jobsinsneakers.com, a leading job site for the sneaker industry. Tom received his BA from Towson University and his MBA from the Towson University Graduate School of Business. Tom lives in New York City. SPINE Leaving Thomas Tom Hartwell
The book is about a young person who experiences significant depression for several years and then eventually makes it through the other side. I want someone to look at the cover and be really intrigued about what the author's journey is all about. It is a journey about self-discovery, heartbreak, and perseverance. The layout needs to reflect all of these things. The attached picture of the author on the tennis court when he was a young child is the one that will be used as the main image on the front cover. Even though the image is in Landscape, the book cover will be in Portrait. The headshot of the author will go on the back cover, next to his short biography. (See attached image -- headshot of smiling man in a white buttoned-down short) The attached images of 5 other book covers are examples of book covers that we like. The deliverables: We need a layered Photoshop .psd spread of the front/back/spine with all vector elements/shapes that can be ouput in a hi-res PDF. Again all vector elements and shapes, no raster except for the image. All fonts will need to be included as well. The finished size is 8.5 x 5.5 and there is a template included in the attachments.
