What's your vision?
The title of the book is: Pale Criminal: The Story of a Notorious Abomination This is a philosophical NOVEL -- and I emphasize the word "novel" because it's important to know that it's a fictional story: a story in the spirit of (for example) Crime and Punishment, Blood Meridian, The Fountainhead, Les Miserables, The Brother's Karamozov, and so forth. Because it is a philosophical novel, it's crucial we develop an exciting, eye-catching, and even provocative cover, the better to counter what might be perceived as dry or academic subject-matter. The designer will have much room to be creative, though the cover must obviously be thematic. Concerning which, there is, for instance, a love interest in the book -- Lauren is her name -- and she's a significant character: curvy, complex, with a complicated mouth, ash-blond hair chopped at the jaw, angular face described as "severe and slightly science-fictional," with a "rear-end leaning toward large." Feel free to do something with her. There's also a malignant-looking red spider that's thematically significant insofar as it represents the crime. The book is, in part, about justice, and also in part about reason and knowledge and a philosophical basis for rational morality. Those are major components of the theme. "Philosophy matters" was a potential title because in many ways those two words encapsulate the quiddity of the book. The main character is a former Green Beret who possesses great strength of will. Also significant is the curious history of the Ark of the Covenant and Ethiopia's real claim to have the Ark, which virtually all Ethiopians believe to this very day.
I've attached a few examples of book covers I like. Sexy or provocative is good, but nothing remotely pornographic.
