Business & Consulting
My wife and I are photographers. She runs the creative side of the business, and I run the business side. I recently wrote an ebook about running the business aspect of a photography business. It focuses on things like marketing, finding subjects, pricing work and packages, and different industry niches. The book and info about it can be seen at www.ProPhotoGuru.com Direct link to current cover: http://i.imgur.com/XzxcQ.png
What's your vision?
I've been selling the book on www.ProPhotoGuru.com, and have made a cover myself: http://i.imgur.com/XzxcQ.png I'm not happy with that cover, though, and looking to revamp it for the release of this book on Amazon for the Kindle. I am changing the title, however, to "Build Your Photography Business" with the subtitle "8 Steps in 8 Weeks to Launch Your Business" I DO NOT want to associate this version of the book with the ProPhotoGuru website, however. There should be NO mention of Pro Photo Guru or ProPhotoGuru.com. I also need a front, spine, and back cover in order to eventually print the book in soft/hardcover. CREATIVE BRIEF Brand Character: The business guide that makes it easier than ever to launch a photography business. Target Audience: Aspiring professional photographers. Currently amateurs, they have always dreamed of quitting their 9-5 job and getting paid for their photography. Accepted Consumer Belief: Starting a photography business is hard. I really don't know where to begin! I've never started a business. It sounds hard and complicated. Primary Benefit: "Build Your Photography Business" makes it easier than ever to launch a photography business. Michael has experience in the field and will hold my hand through the launch. Competition: Shuttermom University, Digital Photography School, Best Business Practices in Photography Primary Objective: Customers download the book from the Amazon Store to their Kindle e-reader Design Ideas: I like the idea of the title saying "Build Your" (top line) "Photography" (2nd line, all caps, bold) "Business" (3rd line), all double-justified to equal width. I may launch other books in the future in the same series and will just replace "Photography" with "Consulting," "Publishing," etc. I want the title to look clean, and clearly feature a camera or photographer, so it is immediately evident what the book is about. A photo or vector graphic could work equally well. I'll leave that up to you. I like earth colors like different shades of blue, brown, and green. I want people to think: Professional, artistic, simple, tasteful. See the samples for examples of covers that I like. Executional Mandatories: Must say title of the book on the front cover, spine, and back. Must say the subtitle on the front cover. Must include my name: Michael Messner (not necessary to say "by") All text must be readable on a 150x150px thumbnail. Use copy from www.prophotoguru.com for the back cover. I'll need a high-res JPEG, PSD, and ideally vector file of the entire cover. I'll also need the color palette, all fonts that are used, etc.
PLEASE ask me any questions before beginning the design process. I'm picky and have worked in marketing for many years. If you do well, though, there is a lot more design work where this came from.
