I need book cover art for the first book in my young adult book series. I'd like to maintain a level of consistency This is the first of 3 books. Title: RIVER’S RECRUIT Subtitle: Book One of the Sanctuary Series Author: Charlotte Abel I need Photoshop CS3 compatible RGB files with all layers intact, including adjustment layers and editable Type layers. (I may change the title before publication.) I want exclusive rights for digital and print reproduction, including but not limited to websites, ebook retailers, book covers, bookmarks, business cards, totes and other promotional materials. 1600 pixels wide X 2400 pixels tall You may use photographs as a foundation, but prefer no photorealism in final product. Digital appearance is more important than print. (I sell 90% of my books in the Amazon Kindle store). Notes: I'd like to communicate a sense of adventure as well as romance. I'd like to see both characters on the cover if they "fit." I want the colors to pop against the dark grey background of the new Kindle Fire eReader and have a high enough contrast to look good on the older, black and white Kindles. Overview: Jonathan lost everything in Afghanistan. His left hand, his identical twin and his self-respect. He hopes to find peace in the Sawatch Mountains during a solo backpacking trip, but all he finds is trouble. Trapped by an early blizzard, he must rely on the help of a beautiful, but strange young woman -- dressed in buckskin, armed with a primative bow and obviously dangerous. River is running out of time. She must choose a mate before winter ends. The most powerful woman in all of New Eden is determined to bind River to her son — an arrogant, promiscuous jackass. He reluctantly agrees to take her as a second wife. River’s only hope to avoid the polygamous union arrives when a handsome outsider miraculously stumbles into their territory. Jonathan is determined to leave as soon as the storm ends. River is determined to keep him. Fate has other plans for both of them. Cover Ideas: 1. Background: Snow covered mountains. Wolf (May use reduced transparency) River: tan complexion; long, straight, dark hair; slender but strong; buckskin pants, leather vest, peasant blouse Jonathan: light tan complexion; wavy, blond hair; sky blue eyes; missing left hand (doesn’t need to be obvious, hide it) soldier in desert camouflage uniform. OR worn denim jeans, thermal shirt, parka, backpack. 2. Background: Snow Symbols: Army dog tags with book title (River’s Recruit) embossed on surfaces, wolf and/or paw print, primitive arrow. 3. Extreme closeup of River’s face, focus on glowing purple eyes. Transparent wolf in the background. It was a pleasure working with Kristin and I intend to use her for my book covers going forward. I loved her concept, the way she portrayed my character, the background and the care she took to make sure that the branding of this cover was consistent with previous ones, done by my publisher's now retired cover artist. She was prompt in making changes and open to suggestion. I'm looking forward to a continued professional relationship.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
