Mr. Percy Haynes has come to us to roll out the e-book version of "Beyond Bourda Green, a Memoir"; in which he chronicles his years in the Diplomatic Corp of Guyana, South America. Although we like the themes incapsulated in his cover we feel they could be better carried out. We are very partial to the covers of Jacqueline Windspears' books, especially the Art Deco style of her title “Maise Dobbs”.
We like the theme of leaving behind and moving forward. The building illustrated on his cover is Borda Market, the site of many political speeches and gatherings in his early years in Guyana. Its' canopy also mimicks the Big Ben clock in London where the author spent most of his diplomatic years before eventually retiring in the U.S. The kids playing with tires or tire-rims in the background represent the tenament/township where he began his journey. Then, as now, poor kids would roll rubber tires or tire-rims with sticks since none could afford real bikes. Mr. Haynes began his career in radio and communications, ended it as a diplomat, and in-between saw his country gain its' independence in the late '60's.
The paperback is 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” x 3/8” thick (spine). The design should cover front, back and spine for renderings; also pixel sizes ready for Apple and Amazon Bookstores. We would like jpg files as well as original files (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, etc).
