I am writing a novel for a young adult / adult crowd.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I'm looking for a cover for a science fiction novel. Title: The title of the book, REPLICA, should be at the top in a large, all-caps font - preferably a non-proprietary font that is simplistic in nature while maintaining a fresh look befitting a science fiction novel. At the bottom of the cover should be the author's name, Christian Johnson, in a similar or identical font, though all-caps is not necessary for the author's name. Art: The book cover should consist predominantly an image of a young Caucasian woman (mid to early twenties) floating unconscious inside of a cloning vat - a cylindrical chamber filled with a water-like fluid with a glass face allowing a relatively unobstructed view of the woman. The woman will have no hair whatsoever (no eyebrows, no hair on her head) and her eyes will be closed as if peacefully sleeping. There should be several tubes floating within the liquid along with her - both large tubes that would feed into her body naturally and smaller tubes that could be attached to her arms and body as if by needle, much akin to an IV. She would have several tubes inserted into her nostrils and mouth for purposes of supplying her oxygen. There would be no markings on her body. No bar codes, no tattoos, etc. The cover could either feature a shot of her centered from the chest up or of her in her entirety - the choice would be left up to the artist. Whichever direction the artist decides to go with though it should be noted that I'm NOT looking to show explicit nudity on the cover. Clever utilization of the various tubes and/or air bubbles, glare on the tank's glass face, etc, on the other hand, is greatly encouraged when looking to conceal the woman's naked features. Other information that might be pertinent: The cloning-vat itself would be located in a darkened, industrialized chamber alongside many other cloning vats, though the "contents" of these other vats aren't identical clones to the one the cover should be focused on. They could have other individuals in them, all equally without hair and all equally unconscious. The flooring directly underneath the vat would be a metallic grated floor - heavy and industrial. The book cover, as it fades around the spine of the book, could simply fade to black if the cover is more of a close-up image of the woman. If it's a slightly more distanced shot, closer to a fully body full cloning-vat shot, the cover art as it extends to the back of the book should be of more vats with various other individuals in them - both men and women of multiple ethnicity, all unconscious and bald like the woman featured on the main cover, front and center.
Artist's discretion to go with a close-up image, or of a more distanced body-shot image of the woman. The woman should, however, be the focus of the art.
