A book cover for an anthology of essays titled WRITES OF PASSAGE: ADVENTURES ON THE WRITER'S JOURNEY. It contains essays by 59 published (and some very famous) Sisters in Crime members, all of whom are crime fiction authors. The essays are divided into 10 categories reflecting the different stages in the writer's journey and are a combination of instructional and inspirational. The categories are: Thinking, Working, Looking, Belonging, Hoping, Committing, Convincing, Enjoying, Moving Forward, and Giving Back.
The finished book will be a 6x9 quality paperback with a page count somewhere between 144 and 192 pages. (we'll have a final page count later this week.)
The essays are inspirational in nature, but first and foremost, they're by and for mystery writers, so that should be the main thing reflected in the cover. What we're envisioning is a solid red shiny background, maybe alluding to an open door? We like to include both the title and subtitle, "Edited by Hank Phillippi Ryan" and the SinC logo. On the first two books, the logo was in the bottom right. Unlike the first two books, we don't want the essay authors listed on the front.
Rather, we'd like them on the back with a line or two introduction. You can see the first two covers here: http://sistersincrime.org/displayco…iclenbr=31.
