Excellent experience! She understood exactly what I wanted. Was very prompt making requested changes. Very seamless experience. I can see why she's won so many contests. Very creative and professional. 5 stars --- highly recommend this designer.
Bev (Dezignstore) was so creative and flexible with my requests. I liked two of her designs and she worked with me to find a way to combine them both into a business card. I really enjoyed working with her.

A cover for a murder mystery novel, titled THE FLIES OF AUGUST
BACKGROUND ABOUT THE BOOK: this is NOT a bang-bang novel where tough guys shoot each other and have car chases and fights and drunken sex. It's a realistic portrayal of two murders in a suburban community. The story is not so much about the murders but about the young, female detective whose life is transformed by the experience of solving first one, then the other murder. A major theme is how the apparent security of suburban life is easily punctured by sudden unexpected violence; and how the potential for that violence is just under the surface. Please read the attached document [SYNOPSIS] for more detail.
DESIGN GUIDELINES: I want the cover to be abstract and representational, rather than specifically about the story or characters.
Attached is a sheet of 5 covers [TEST_COVERS] which were tested in a focus group. None of these was considered particularly effective -- which is why I am trying again on 99designs. Also attached are 4 sample covers of published books that I like the style of.
NOTE: When a writer is very well known (e.g. Denis Lehane), there's a good marketing rationale for having his name in large type on the cover. That does not apply to me -- author's name should not be prominent.
