How Cassandra_Rathbone started their book cover journey
Fart Boy Book 1: The First Sniff
Adam is a New York Times best selling author who has an especially clever aptitude for clever, funny and witty books for children.
It is a story about a boy called Martin who lives in a very clean and tidy place called Sparkletown. Martin is horrified by the idea of farts and anything fart-related. This is tough for him to manage, because pretty much everyone in Sparkletown works at the baked bean factory where farting is completely normal and acceptable.
Then, one day, Martin is on his way to the factory when a freak accident causes a baked bean gas explosion that leaves him with AMAZING FARTING POWERS. Martin becomes a (reluctant) farting hero who needs to use his powers to save Sparkletown from certain destruction. And along with his fart powers, Martin also acquires another secret weapon. His gassy guru . . . Grandma.
Fartboy is packed with silliness and plenty of fart jokes that kids will love, AND a great story that will have even the most polite and non-farting nannas chuckling away in secret.
Boys and girls aged 6+. It is all about 'kid' appeal!
Book cover type

What colors do you want to see in your design?
We are wanting a cover that appeals to kids, especially reluctant boy readers. It needs to scream funny! We would love to see the use of lots of bright colours (especially reds and blues) and a 'superhero' theme incorporated into the design with typography that jumps off the page (such as the old school cartoon text like 'Wham' and 'Pow').
We would like the series title 'Fart Boy' to be designed into a 'logo' that would be used on subsequent books in the series. The subtitle can be less prominent. The other major feature of the cover is the image of 'Fart Boy' himself. The rough sketch is attached (it is still to be finalised)
