I am an independent author that tries to write epic fantasy novels!
What's your vision?
I'm looking for a cover design for an ebook, 1563x2500 pixels for the front cover - Winning designs will also incorporate a spine and back for printed version. I would like the book to incorporate the following elements: Title: Flames of the Citadel Author: Bryce Allen Content: The cover can contain some variations of the following elements. This book is high/epic fantasy. The plot is set in a medieval time period. In the book, a group of priest like mages come to the land in a time of great strife. Using their abilities, they end they war and make peace. These people are called "The Enlightened." The Enlightened wear flowing, sleeveless white robes. Their skin is covered in blue tattoo like runes. Almost like thin tribal tattoos. The lines generally flow all over their bodies, ending just below the eyes, and on the backs of their hands. There are three main characters. One is an Enlightened. His runes are in for form of vines, ending is sprouts underneath his eyes and hands. He has short dark hair and pale skin. He is roughly 15 years old. He has light blue eyes. Another main character is normal person. She is 13, short and skinny. She is homeless, and her hair is dark and spiky. She wears brown, makeshift clothing and carries a bow and arrow. The third main character is a giant like humanoid. He is double the height of an adult male. He is extremely muscular and wears mostly furs. His head is shaved and his is in his 20s. The race is barbaric and tribal. They focus mostly on war. This particular character wears a large belt, leather and fur pants, bare chested, and large hardened leather bracers on his fore arms. There is a castle on the edge of a cliff over looking the ocean. The castle is surrounded by a sprawling city. I attached a picture of something similar for reference. They also spend a lot of time in a place called the "Endless Plains." As you can imagine, they are on a small dirt trail through tall tan/golden grass in rolling hills. I am very open to different designs and concepts. Fire and flames are an important theme throughout the book. The enlightened can manipulate fire and often use it as a weapon. Perhaps the Enlightened boy could be wielding a fireball in his hand on the cover? Another idea, the main Enlightened is burnt very badly in the book. He is tortured and all of his runes are burnt off. He could be on the cover alone, covered in burns. I don't want this revealed entirely, but with some creative work it could be fun! The symbol for the capital city is a single flame over a mountain, all in a circle. If you wanted, you could work with that symbol. I do not prefer stock art or live models, but I am open minded to any ideas or concept
This is my very first 99 designs contest! I am super excited about the whole thing. I am very open to different ideas, and I look forward to see what others can come up with. If you have a crazy idea that you aren't sure about, throw it out there! You never know. I will run the best contest I can. I will provide feedback throughout the day! The photo I attached is NOT meant to be a back drop. It is the actual city that I based the Citadel off of. Instead of a mountainous backdrop, it would be a turbulent ocean, and the lower city would be much larger. However, the castle at the peak is very close to what I am looking for IF you choose to have the Citadel as a back drop. It is the French walled city of Entrevaux.
