Ok, lets get this started:
First off, the theme of the novel is a fantasy novel, set in medieval times like all good fantasy novels. There are 3 main characters to the novel, each of whom I would like to be displayed on the cover in one way or another. I will come back to them in a minute.
I would like a back, front and spine cover created, with most of the detail on the side that would be the main cover.
First off, the main character in the centre of the front page. She is a slender, attractive sorceress around the age of twenty. She MUST be in a RED set of sorceress robes (or clothes with a cloak) with WHITE runes, symbols, stitching or linings around or on those robes. The most important part of the robes however is the HOOD. As seen in the two sample images (female assassin and red riding hood) the hood must shroud her eyes and upper face in shadow. The only part of her face that should be visible is the tip of her nose down. (google "Assassins Creed" pictures for further hood ideas) She should have a half smile suggesting the look like “You seriously think you can challenge me?” or suggesting that she knows something you do not. Her hands and maybe part of her arms should be visible through wide sleeved classic wizard style robes as well, in elegant or intricate hand poses like the ones also provide. Also VERY important that her hands are surrounded in PURPLE fire. The fire is not burning her harming her, she is summoning it. Her hand poses should look like she is not holding it, but more the fire is a by-product of her awesomeness. She should be close enough to the ‘camera’ that she is visible from the waste up. Lastly for her, her hair should be flowing out the sides of her hood reaching just below her shoulders. She has black or dark brown hair with BLONDE tips around the length of her fingers on the end. If you want to or can manage it, you can reflect the fire in her eyes as long as the rest of her eyes and face hidden in shadows are not visible.
Next comes the main male character. He should be to the left of the main female, but facing away from the camera looking over his shoulder slightly towards her. He is meant to be ripped, but his dangerousness comes from his speed and agility. He doesn't wear much armour, so if you put him in any, make it light or leather armour. The picture provided (barbarian) should give you an idea of his pose, however he is definitely wearing more clothes than that pic. He has short black curly hair and short cropped beard. Lastly and most importantly for him, he has to be holding a WHITE glowing sword. The blade itself has to have a noticeable glow of pure white to it, but not enough to hinder or take away from the general dark colour theme of the cover. The grip, wrist guard and hilt are all black, but the pommel is also white.
Last main character is the hardest. He is described as half gorilla and half man, but feel free to create your own designs or context. I have included an example picture to get your creative ideas going (gorilla warrior). He is meant to be hugely muscle and dangerous in strength alone. He doesn't have weapons or armour or clothes other than his natural fur and a studded leather chest piece. He wears studded gloves with blades running up his arms and should be standing on all fours. If you want to alter the ratio of gorilla to man, please make him more animal than human. I am going for originality when it comes to him. Make him look awesome! :-D
Around the back and sides of the cover should be dark settings or colours, as these three characters are rarely in the same place at the same time, so I’d rather them not looking like they are all there together. The other pictures are just some others I through in to help give you an idea as to what the sorceress robes might look like.
Next is the picture of the two circles, this is the symbol used in the book. Please put it on the spine or under the title or something. Though it is boring to look at, the symbol itself is all that matters, so feel free to change its colours or set it on fire or whatever to make it more alluring as long as it remains a ring around a filled circle.
Lastly is the back cover, I need a dragon eye on the back, similar to the one used for Smaug in the Lord of the Rings (attached photo), again be creative, as the dragons used in the book are illusive, so go for more scary or dangerous or awesome looks rather than exact specific detail.
The title of the book is to be “The Emerald Crusade” I haven’t decided on a series name yet so if you can put in book 1 or something to indicate it is book 1 on the spine or under the title it might be good but not important. Please make the author name "A. M. Gosling".
The designers should also leave an area clear or blank or a unrolled scroll or something where I can put the blurb, and will also be putting a photo of me on the back as well as the barcodes and publishing details etc so please don’t put anything important on the bottom of the back cover. I have not yet decided upon the blurb so winning designers will need to be ok with me contacting you at a later date to just pop in the finished blurb.
The theme of the book is magic and warriors, good vs evil.
I have included a VERY ROUGH idea of my initial concept of the cover design. Please don’t just replicate it, I am going for originality and catchy cover designs. Please feel free to branch out however you feel would benefit the cover, as long as the symbols and the sorceress details remain close to as previously described.
Any questions please ask, and I will add more details as I become aware of them.
