jbernstel got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Need a Fun, Illustrated Cover for a New Guide Book
Check out jbernstel's Book cover contest…
Business & Consulting
This contest is for the cover of an educational guide on cybersecurity. The book covers the top cybersecurity threats and actions readers can take to protect themselves and their family. Financial Advisors will be able to buy the book to share with clients and prospects.
What's your vision?
We need a cover for this guide that consists of three main elements: an illustration, a title, and a tagline. We would prefer a sans-serif, easy to read font. Title: Hack-Proof Your Life Now! Tag: The New Cybersecurity Rules: Stamp out malware, block I.D. theft, & reclaim your privacy from hackers, thieves, & spammers. Byline: Sean M. Bailey and Devin Kropp Illustration and color scheme: The illustration should be inspired by the car/hover craft driven by George Jetson in the old cartoon, "The Jetsons." We would like to see a family driving something like one of these cars/hovercrafts through space (Seen in images: Jetson1 and Jetson2.) There should be elements (such as meteors, asteroids) coming at them that they must try to avoid. We don't want the background to be too dark. The images attached (Outspace 1-6) are some examples of what we are looking for. Another idea is to have the background be more like the inside of fiber optic cables to go along with the cyber-attack idea.(Fiber 1 and 3 are some examples) A third idea is to have the background be an endless string of passwords.

And then… they selected a winner!
Armend designed the back cover and inside of our new book. He was fast, responsive and worked to very tight deadlines. He understood the brief perfectly and in places where he needed clarification he asked immediately. Delightful to work with and would work with him in the future - highly recommend!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
