I need a clean, attractive, professional 3D book cover for my upcoming
book. The book cover needs to meet the specs for self-publishing
through Amazon's CreateSpace service for a 6x9 paperback. The ISBN &
barcode will be placed on the back cover by CreateSpace. Their design
specs will show the section to leave blank for that purpose. I will
use the images for marketing the book prior to it being published.
Then the images will be used for the actual printed book cover. So, in
addition to the 3D cover, I need the back and spine. Again, this
layout will need to be uploaded to CreateSpace.
The goal of the book is to help leaders change the way they view their
position. There is a significant difference between positional
leadership and earned leadership. Managers that rely on their position
to influence will have followers that follow only because they have
to. Leaders who rely on earning the respect of others will have
followers that follow because they want to. The greater the earned
leadership, the greater the influence. The greater the influence, the
greater the results. Earned leaders will develop and lead cohesive
teams. Where positional leaders usually create divisive, competitive
and political teams. Cohesive teams are more productive and therefore,
more profitable for the organizations.
The book cover should really jump out and cause the leader to want to
open the book and read it.
You have the liberty to design within the constraints of professional
rather than cheesy. Optional note: If you are also a copywriter, I am
open to modifying the sub-title(s) if you feel there is a better way
to express the contents of the book.
Book Title: The Earned Leadership Factor
Main Sub-title: How to lead without leveraging your title
*Possible secondary sub-title: The 7 critical disciplines to increase
influence and lead cohesive teams.
Author: Kevin McCarthy
Publisher: InPower Books (for spine/back cover only)
*The secondary sub-title is questionable. There is a trend for adding
secondary sub-titles. But, I can go either way on this. I would love
to see designs with and without a secondary sub-title.
Back Cover: (items surrounded by (i) should be italics)
You want your team to do what you ask because, well, let’s face it,
you’re the boss and you “said so.” If you desire to lead an
effective, productive, and cohesive team, then being the boss is
simply not enough—what you need is (i)earned leadership(i).
Leveraging your title or position to get things done is a result of
(i)positional leadership(i); John Maxwell describes this as the lowest
level of leadership. (i)True leadership(i), in other words, (i)earned
leadership(i), doesn’t require a position or title. In fact, there
are many earned leaders that do not even have a title, yet their
influence far surpasses that of most positional leaders.
(i)Earned Leadership Factor(i) provides seven critical disciplines to
increase your influence as an earned leader, with or without a title.
As an earned leader, you will be better equipped to develop and lead
more cohesive teams that yield higher productivity and profitability
for your cause, not because of your position or because you "said so"
but because of who you are and what you represent.
