What's your vision?
Title: Lake of the Falls Sub-Title: A Novella Author: Lou Mindar This book is about Kevin Hargrove, a man who's life is in a rut, and who has given up on ever having the life he once desired. He's an attorney living in Chicago. He works too much and enjoys life too little. When he reluctantly takes a weekend off of work to take his father for a visit to their former hometown in Wisconsin, Kevin finds the possibility to dig out of his rut. His relationship with his father, which has been turbulent for years, hits a crossroads, and he is reunited with an former girlfriend. Will he take advantage of the opportunity to change his life for the better, or will he take the easy way out, remaining in his self-imposed rut? What I want in a book cover: The story line of the book centers around the falls at Lake of the Falls County Park in Mercer, WI. In many ways, the falls are unimpressive. They only drop a few feet, and are much smaller than more well-known falls in the state. Yet, they are beautiful, particularly when the autumn colors are on full display. I would really like the book cover to depict the falls in all of their beauty. I'm not opposed to a photo for the cover, but I'd like to see something unique and creative done with the photo. Use your imagination and come up with something really innovative. Required Design Specs: This is from the Kindle website: Dimensions: Requirements for the size of your cover art must have an ideal height/width ratio of at least 8:5 (1.6), meaning: • A minimum of 625 pixels on the shortest side and 1000 pixels on the longest side • For best quality, your image should be 2500 pixels on the longest side Size: Your cover image must be less than 50MB. If the file type you are using supports compression, make sure to enable as little compression as possible, e.g. none for TIFF. Be sure to save your file with 72 dots per inch (dpi). Color: Product images display on the Amazon website using the RGB (red, green, blue) color mode or profile. RGB is the color mode native to the web and many color screen displays, as these three colors displayed at varying levels of intensity create over 16 million colors. When saving and uploading your cover image file, save your file ONLY as RGB - not CMYK or sRGB- for the color profile. You can usually find this option in the File saving dialog of image manipulation programs such as Photoshop.
I've attached a water color of the falls that was painted by artist Marc O. Hanson. I DO NOT own the rights to this painting, but I wanted you to see it so you had an idea of what the falls look like.
