Font Treatment: Must be an easily readable font. We tend to be conservative about typefaces. Keep title in top half of design. It needs to be big and clear enough to be legible in an icon image of this graphic, just an inch or two high.
Potential Art Concepts:
1. See our cover style at Berkleepress.com (look at new releases)
2. Try all text, like Don Passman's famous book “Everything You need to Know about the Music Business”
3. A treatment like the old West Side Story poster, with ladders and people interacting with the letters, might work, but it has to be elegant and not too silly. This is a music business book, for artists who are serious about their careers, though the book does have a sense of humor.
Book Content Description:
Creative, comprehensive, formal, but fun look at project management for music projects. Strong emphasis on finding a vision and mapping all work from that. The techniques are varied, from graphical strategies (Gantt charts) to refinements on brainstorming techniques. Completing projects is the overall emphasis.
This is aimed at adult musicians in the commercial music industry who are serious about their careers, looking for systems to organize their work and help them become more successful and productive. We hope this will be perceived as the definitive text of its type. It is 400 pages long.
