What's your vision?
Create book cover for a new Hard Science Fiction novel by Clyde Dsouza called MEMORIES WITH MAYA In need of an eBook cover and as the book will go to print I will need a paperback cover (front/back/spine) where text can be laid out on it. Must abide by Amazon rules for eBook covers: Requirements for the size of cover art have an ideal height/width ration of 1.6, this means: • A minimum of 625 pixels on the shortest side and 1000 pixels on the longest side • For best quality, your image would be 1563 pixels on the shortest side and 2500 pixels on the longest side (authors note: although I will use the 625 x 1000 image for the actual e-book so as to keep the file size down, I would recommend that prospective designers get thier royalty free artwork if any, at a higher rez and dpi so as to make it suitable for the soft cover printed version of the book) • Use color images when possible using RGB (red, green, blue) color mode for e-book. Book Title & Author name must appear on front cover The print version of the book will be: 5.25 x 8 inch soft cover (paperback) The cover has to conform to CreateSpace standards https://www.createspace.com/Product Title = Memories with Maya Author = Clyde Dsouza Word count = approx 52,000/- Back cover blurb: 'It’s Complicated' Daniel types, updating his relationship status on his social network. He's lost Maya, his girlfriend. Emotions and feelings after all, are now shared on-line. He is like a man possessed, and will stop at nothing to get her back. After going through internal turmoil, where he questions his morals and religious beliefs, he finds a way to get her back. Dan has to convince himself that he’s not gone mad—that there's nothing wrong—in what he's done. If he can live with Maya this way, he might be paving a path towards Transhumanism. Deliverables: Completed cover for print version as a PDF Also as a Photoshop PSD layered file (I may make changes to blurb later by myself) E-book cover of the above. Here's Amazons ebook guidelines again: https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publish Notes Thoughts: I want a cover that grabs the attention of a reader, and the title should be visible on the thumbnails used on amazon's website. I am looking at the following for the front cover: Almost all of the front cover features a Girls face. The image should be a CGI photorealistic girl such as generated by highend 3d software such as Poser, maya, etc. The girl's complexion is wheatish or latin american. She's wearing a Visor that looks slick, similar to the reference images attached. Her hair can either be tied back into a high ponytail or is shoulder length and open. The image is a closeup of her face (eyes, till chin) but her eyes should be visible through the shades of the visor. She has brown eyes that should be visible as seen through tinted sunglasses. In the corner of the visor also can be seen the front lens of a typical DSLR camera (but of course it's much smaller and sits in the extreme left or right of the visor) Markings on the lens ring would be great (iso/ f stop etc) see image attached for reference. back cover: The blurb as above, and background image shows a sunset as seen from the balcony of a high-rise building. So a cityscape and buildings skyline is also visible. A telescope is in the balcony (can be just a silhouette of the telescope) Feel free to improvise here. This is just an idea that I've got, I'd appreciate similar ideas, so Be creative! If you can't create a photo-realistic CGI girl, then maybe with photo-shop editing skills, a real face can be synthesized to make it look photo-realistic. Examples of photo realistic CGI faces are here: http://naturalfront.com/blog/the-mo As a reminder: I would like the final cover free of any third party copyright issues. Please make certain all images, fonts etc, used are royalty free. Final image copyright will belong to me. cover design credit (first last name only) will be attributed to designer in the book as a courtesy, if desired. I'm open to discussions and questions. Thanks! **update*** An update if you care to indulge me: She has a tattoo. It can be vertically or horizontally placed copy the image that gets generated from this location: http://bit.ly/Y0nCpF An explanation: in the converter box on the site above, I typed in 22122012 and converted it to Mayan numbers. If you need high res version of mayan symbols then it is available here: http://bit.ly/10pm1LL Story: the date 22 12 2012 is important in the story. Although the tattoo is not referenced in the book, I want it on the cover art. The tattoo location can be either on her neck, shoulder blades (back) or on the front high above her breast. ***important*** Please note that the reference images listed below are for reference only! I do not own the copyright to these images, neither do I plan on purchasing/licensing them. You will have to get your own stock/original imagery for the final cover art.
