terry.netto got their new book cover by running a design contest:
A 'serious, professional and elegant' cover for a training manual on 'Thinking' for managers.

Business & Consulting
- We are an Learning & Development company running classroom-based workshops. - Clients are mostly multinationals like Intel, Citibank, Samsung, and large Malaysian corporations. - For this particular product, most workshop participants are managers.
What's your vision?
- The cover of a thin (about 40-50 pages, 20-25 sheets) training manual. - Most pages of the manual will contain one PowerPoint slide with notes at the bottom. - Pages with be in B&W (and shades of grey) + a bit of Dark Blue if necessary - i.e. the pages are workbook pages, nothing fancy. - THEREFORE, the cover should not be anything fancy, either - I'm looking at B&W, Dark Blue and Red. (The red colour is meant to represent a specific line of products we have, but it can be omitted if it doesn't fit the design.) I'm not closed to other colours - but the look has to be 'serious, professional and elegant'. - The title of the manual is 'The Case Maker' (with a Trademark [tm] sign at the end. The sub-title is 'Structure and Present Your Thinking Convincingly'. - For other details that go onto the back cover, please see first attachment. - In the attachment, you'll also notice our logo 'dropping' from the top of the front and back covers. We want this to remain as such.
- There is a central concept that gives an overview of the whole workshop. Please see the PowerPoint slides in the second attachment. - I think (but I'm not a designer) that it would be good to have this concept represented on the cover either as it is or in an abstract form. - I did the artwork of this concept myself (don't laugh!) :-). It needs some touch-up to make it look more professional (in B&W & some Dark Blue). However, don't alter the location of the boxes/images or the direction of the arrows. But the look of the boxes/images and arrows can and should be altered. - In file dated 140323, I included two conceptual diagrams - a full diagram with text and a simplified diagram without text. If you choose the full version, the fonts can be changed. - In filed dated 140325, you'll also see two conceptual diagrams - a full diagram with text and a diagram with abstract images to represent the concepts referred to in the first diagram. I represented 'Analyse & Frame' as a yellow box with arrows around it because in that section of the course I teach a process that uses 6 yellow boxes that are part of a circuit. Similarly, I represented 'Structure' as a pyramid because in the course I teach them to use a similar logical structure (tree diagram). - MINOR BUT IMPORTANT CHANGE: THE TOP PART NOW HAS THREE BOXES/DIAGRAMS INSTEAD OF FOUR. (However, if you 4 boxes/diagrams, I won't hold that against you when I choose the designers for teh final round.). - This contents of this manual is closely linked to a book we are currently writing. For details of that book cover see: http://99designs.com/book-cover-design/contests/cover-articulate-210371/brief#contest-breadcrumbs. As you can see, we like things looking elegant.
