Book Covers. One to start, but there will be a theme, so the same artist will probably be asked to do the remaining three. I envision a line drawing of a wedding gown that will be worn by four different women. Each book will feature this dress at a different angle. Inside the skirt portion of the dress, I envision an image that is connected to the story inside that particular book. For the first book I am sending out for submissions is a romantic suspense. The first image within the wedding gown line drawing would be the body of a woman - a long-haired (Waist length) brunette's body floating face down, spread eagle, in the ocean. I'd like the hair to be floating all around her head, if possible. The body wears slacks and a shirt and sneakers. It's night, so its dark. Some moonlight, maybe? This takes place near a rocky breakwater, so that could be part of the image.
Is the text part of the cover? If so, this needs to be on the cover:
Title: After the Party
Sub-title: Book Two of the Wedding Gown Promise Series
Author's name: Ronnie Roberts
If it helps the artist with this initial cover to be able to envision how this book cover will blend into the other three of the series, I'll briefly describe the other three covers as I currently envision them.
1/The image for inside the gown line drawing (different angle than first) will be a small blonde girl (Six years old), dirty-faced, hugging her knees tightly, huddled at the bottom of a narrow shaft, looking up into a dim light.
2/The image inside the gown line drawing (yet another angle of the dress) will be of a long auburn-haired woman in hiking boots, jeans and a flannel shirt facing down a cougar on a mountain pathway. Sunny day. A karate stance would be great, as that's her first reaction, or just fright, raised arms, whatever. Maybe just have her walking the path, with the cat waiting ahead? Not as dramatic?
3/The image inside the gown line drawing (yet another angle of the dress) will be twilight, almost full darkness, the side of a seaside cottage, with a shadowy male figure trying to break into or peeking into a single lit-from-within window(with flowering window-box) The cottage should be older but charming, with a wrap around deck, no roof over deck, with hanging flower pots from roof line. Could include, but not not necessary - odd assortment of shoes and boots on steps rising steps up to deck, each footwear planted with flowers. Or just the stealth male figure and the window. Some version of 'up to no good'.
I'm sending a simple drawing of the dress. It is a simple design, with lots of skirt area in which to create the dramatic image necessary for each book cover. Its also very forgiving size wise, thus each main character can wear it in her book. Think of the gown line drawing as a frame to the more important image for each book.
