I'm a big fan of Google's material design movement and will be pushing the design of the app in this direction so if this could be reflected in the brand design as well, that would be great.
Logo needs to be crisp, clear, clean and sharp. Subtle gradients, material design style drop shadows. Background: either flat or maybe slight colour gradients or gentle geometric patterns
I think geometric, flat facet, trans menagerie styles could also work well for us so feel free to try these, I like the one colour and the colourful geometric etc logos.
For the icon / graphic part of the logo, I would like something clever and original that portrays what we are trying to achieve with the app: engagement, employee happiness, workplace harmony, feedback loop, company performance.
The challenge here is that all of these descriptors immediately make you think of cheesy stock photos and cliparts of people in ties holding hands or with their hands in the air. Designs will be instantly removed that have any of this stereotypical imagery. Don't turn the 'i' into humans, don't make it look like it's holding it's hands up etc. We are re-inventing engagement in the workplace and our logo needs to reflex our disruptive, innovation focussed approach.
This is the kind of clever I am looking for: http://digitalsynopsis.com/design/5…o-designs/
The logo and elements will eventually become the app icon and will be adapted for app store imagery, as well as determining the design of the website so keep that in mind when designing.
I'm also looking for a steer on a set of brand colours, in nice modern hues of blue and unusual secondary colours. I'm open to your expertise here but make sure the colours are not old, stale or boring.
Same goes for the logo font, needs to be modern, clean and timeless. The app fonts will be Roboto for Android and San Francisco for Apple. The logo font should reflect this.
I currently like to compare the app like a fitness tracker for large companies, that may help with your thinking.
