brandonHu got their new logo & brand identity pack by running a design contest:
NewCollar -> logo for new tech startup/mobile app to help people find careers without 4-year degrees
Check out brandonHu's Logo & brand identity pack contest…
NewCollar is a dating app for careers you don't need a college degree for. NewCollar is helping solve the shortage of skilled labor in the US, helping Americans age 16-25 who don't have the money or don't see the ROI in a 4 year degree find interesting NewCollar jobs that pay well, and replaces the friction and uncertainty associated with job boards . Old-fashioned job boards and resumes are replaced with an app-only experience that replaces text-only job descriptions and resumes with pictures, videos, and a complete picture of the projected earnings growth over the next 5-10 years so candidates and companies alike know what they're getting.

What we're thinking here is the silhouette of a tie, but cut off diagonally in the middle. Here's why: NewCollar is about moving past the old ideas of "blue collar" vs "white collar" jobs. NewCollar careers (where you don't need a 4-year degree) are the way of the future. Out with the old, in with the new. Even though some of these NewCollar jobs could be working in a skilled trade (electrician, plumber, carpenter, etc) some of them could be also be something like IT. So a hard hat, hammer, or otherwise construction related objects aren't helpful. But one thing that all the jobs on our platform will have in common is that these NewCollar workers will not be wearing a tie. So if you take the tie, and you cut it in half (we were thinking diagonally, but whatever you think looks good) it demonstrates an "out with the old" disruptive mentality that signifies moving into a future where things like ties and diplomas don't matter anymore. Other notes: - Please note that while we like the idea of a cut tie, other variations or embodiments are encouraged. For instance, the bottom of the tie could be removed entirely, or it could be shown "falling" away after it was cut. The tie could be the only item, or there could be a suit in the background. Overall we are most interested that it feel clean and minimalist, though not overly uniform or symmetrical. - Lastly, having an arrow in it would be cool BUT IS NOT REQUIRED. But if there is an arrow, it should be hidden to the naked eye (e.g. you probably wouldn't notice it in Fedex or in the RobinHood feather logos unless you were looking for it). Would be better for there to be no arrow than for it to be obvious. One possible idea would be to have a negative-space arrow "cutting" the tie diagonally (up and to the right) - it would be hidden unless someone were to look a bit more closely. **notes on attachments: the RobinHood logo is one of our favorite examples of a clean and minimalist logo design and the Fedex logo is a good example of negative space (although we don't want to look like Fedex) Thanks and excited to see what you come up with!
