How digital clouds started their button or icon journey

Overview

Hi, We are a husband and wife with two kids ... we use lots of name tags for the kids (as do our friends) and want to start printing our own labels/tags .. so, to do this, we would like to put together a collection of fun, cartoon style, labels we can use on the tags and the labels (name labels, you know the ones our parents use to put on our underwear for school camp!).

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach

The target audience is kids - so the labels need to be fun (our kids are still quite young ... so we are thinking monsters, dinos, trucks, etc.) ... since the main printer used for this sort of thing is b/w they need to work both in b/w and in colour (thats for the avery labels - lunch boxes, etc. or actual tags).

Requirements

(edit: we have changed the word 'monochrome' to 'b/w' as it was causing some greyscale designs to be submitted, which will not work on the printer we will be using .. so this should avoid any confusion in regards to the word 'monochrome')

In short, this is what we are after:

a pack of 30 icon (produced once in colour and once in b/w - so a total of 60 images), 5 labels for each of the following categories:

(n) - Animals (i.e. cat, dog, horse, fish, etc.)
(b) - Dinos / Monsters
(b) - Transport (cars, airplanes, boats, trucks, trains, etc.)
(n) - Kids (girls & boys - doing activities .. surfer girl, boy with ball, etc.)
(g) - Angles / Fairies
(g) - Flowers / Plants

The b = targets boys, n = targets both boys and girls, g = targets girls ... we are open to other categories, but we would like to keep a general balance.

We need to be able to reduce them in size to about 1 cm (height) - the focus here is on the b/w versions as these are the ones we will use the most - the label printer we use is 200 dpi.

The coloured version of the icons can be a little larger as colour tends to turn into a big blur when reduced, and we would probably print them on actual tags which are generally quite a bit larger (5+ cm).

Anyhow .. our thinking is that the coloured versions are coulorized versions of the b/w ones (these would be more in line art style) - so basically 30 icons, one set before they are colourized, and one set after.

If you need examples of what we are after we can track down some stock images that are close to what we are looking for ...
