We want a mascot that will help us build relationships with students and members of the broader community. The mascot must interface equally well with CCC students, children in the community, and adults in the community.
We are (and will remain) the Red Barons, which is likely a tribute to a man named Baron van Steuben, who was very important to our region.
We would like the mascot to be ...
an animal, express positivity, be fierce but not scary, be community-oriented, be unique, be impressive, be fun, evoke a sense of spirit and pride in the college, be inclusive. The mascot must be able to wear clothes and move freely (dance, hug, cheer, walk in parades, etc.). We do not want a cartoon character and the mascot must stand the test of time ... so not trendy. A little flash is ok, but nothing obnoxious.
Because the mascot must be unique, we do NOT want a wolf, bee, cougar, falcon, cat, lake monster, jayhawk, jaguar, bird, horse, hawk, duck, shark, or panther. These animals are used by other community colleges in our state-wide system.
