We have created a simple kit we call the "SpaceKit" that allows students to run experiments on the international space station (ISS). The way we do it is by sending up hardware that can be reconfigured via software to run multiple types of experiments and even more customization of those experiments. Our target audience is kids 8-14yrs old who are interested in space and/or science or parents of kids that age than want to buy educational toys for their kids. The kit includes all the parts necessary to build all the experiments the experiments that are in space. The kids will program their experiment on an Arduino Uno microcontroller and run their experiment on the ground. Then they can also build the same experiment through our Web App and submit their code to be uploaded to the ISS. Once they get their data back they will be able to compare those results to the ground data and will be able to see visually how the science was affected by micro gravity.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We are in need of a "Quick Start Guide" to include in the kit packaging. This will be the first thing the customer sees when the box is opened. The size will be 281mmW x 320mmH. It is preferable that this is single sided but can be double if necessary. This should show the kid the full process detailed below:
1. Register an account at http://www.questforspace.com
2. Locate the "Build Guide" on site to access assembly instructions for building their ground experiment
3. Run ground experiment
4. Program space experiment on website
5. Submit experiment and wait for upload
6. Receive space data back
7. Analyze and compare data from space with ground and determine how micro-gravity affected results.
I would like the style to be more sketchy than refined/sharp. We are targeting the "Maker Community". The target is young kids so make it easy for them to follow. We're thinking of something like a infographic but open to different creative ideas.
If you are using a character in your design, create a caricature of the attached image of "Jake". Jake will be creating videos on the site so the theme would continue. The distinguishing characteristics of Jake is that he is tall, skinny, wears bow ties, and has glasses.
