JFitzsimons got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
Quantum computer poster in vintage style
Check out JFitzsimons's Illustration or graphics contest…
Horizon Quantum Computing is developing a new generation of programming tools to simplify and expedite the process of developing software for quantum computers. By removing the need for prior quantum computing experience, Horizon’s tools will democratise the development of quantum-enhanced applications, making the power of quantum computing accessible to every software developer. Three visuals will be displayed as posters in our office, side by side, but will also be used as posters, post cards, Christmas cards and possibly on goodies.
What's your vision?
At Horizon Quantum Computing, we believe that quantum technology will be the next revolution in computing. Small scale quantum processors have already been demonstrated by a number of technology companies, as well as by a new generation of hardware start-ups. Such devices offer an entirely new model of computation which can drastically outperform conventional computers for a number of applications. We often draw a parallel with the history of conventional computers. The nascent quantum technology today is characterised by huge computers taking an entire room, exactly as in 1950s. The scepticism about the applicability of this technology reminds us this old sentence "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers," supposedly said in 1943 by Thomas Watson, President of IBM. We are excited to be among pioneers of quantum technology. To illustrate this vision, we need your help to create 3 visuals in vintage style reminding us of the old computer adverts from 1950s to 1980s, but featuring quantum computers. You are free to choose a vintage style you want. If you are not familiar with what old computer advertisements looked like, the Computer History Museum has an online collection of vintage computer ads and brochures which may prove useful for inspiration here: https://www.computerhistory.org/brochures/a-c/. You can use any type of quantum computers in your image: we are a quantum software company building hardware-agnostic tools, so superconductors, ions, photons or lasers are all possible. We are a B2B company, so it’s better not to focus on computers for usage at home. To some extent, we would like the users to be able to attribute it to Horizon Quantum Computing. Should it be through colours, a subtle logo placement or another way. You can find our logo in our media kit https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s23su4c41nk4uln/AAAsk5dghWnWG5HbW23HEvtna?dl=0 and our graphic style and colours on our website http://www.horizonquantum.com/. Deliverable: vertical format visuals suitable for printing at size 49x69 cm. Our intention is to select up to three winners, depending on quality of submissions.
We expect original designs which do not make use of copyright material. The links below are intended for inspiration only. The google search terms are to give you an idea what three of the main types of quantum processor look like.
