We conducted an industry survey related to COVID and telehealth and would like to show the results and conclusions in a roughly one-page infographic

Where are private treatment centers at in a time of COVID-19? (IMAGE SUGGESTION - INSIDE AN OUTLINE OF A HOME) • In-home treatment reduces COVID-19 exposure, to patients and staff • Therapy sessions are increasing in home too (IMAGE SUGGESTION - INSIDE AN OUTLINE OF A PHONE/LAPTOP) • 83% Telehealth in general is up • IOP is increasing (less exposure involved than residential) • Full continuum of care is up as a result • Everyone thinks telehealth is less expensive, but it’s not (IMAGE SUGGESTION - BAR GRAPH – FROM PPT) Biggest challenges in setting up telehealth [CALL OUT:] Even though insurance companies want to believe – and act as if – telehealth is less expensive than on-site, this isn’t necessarily true, our survey found. Added expenses include: • investment in technology • attention to privacy concerns • engaging patients • testing patients Bottom line: “It isn’t as profitable as in person. There are also clinical concerns about counseling being less effective – with lower quality – than in person.” - Ben Dittman CEO at Avea Solutions [IMAGE SUGGESTION - INSIDE AN OUTLINE OF A CROWD] Responders: Cross section Mostly owners, directors, executive, and managers Followed by billers Possible avenues for revenue increase (IMAGE SUGGESTION - DOLLAR SIGN WITH UP ARROW) • 87% increase in programs with telehealth • 60% of responders have positive outlook • 70% of responders anticipate increase in size COVID-19 worries (IMAGE SUGGESTION - GRAPHIC OF DOLLAR SIGN with DOWN ARROW • 70% of responders were “highly concerned” • 50% said decrease in admissions • Patients unwilling to travel inter-state • Facilities were closed • Quarantine requirements a barrier • Patient telehealth challenges: no internet/phone/privacy [CALL OUT] The usual concerns: Payers. The #1 thing providers would change has nothing to do with COVID-19. It’s the insurance companies, who get in the way of patients getting treatment.
