A definition that I have come across relating to breakpoint is: a breakpoint is an intentional stopping or pausing place put in place for debugging purposes. It is also sometimes simply referred to as a pause.
More generally, a breakpoint is a means of acquiring knowledge about a program during its execution. During the interruption, the programmer inspects the test environment (general purpose registers, memory, logs, files, etc.) to find out whether the program is functioning as expected. In practice, a breakpoint consists of one or more conditions that determine when a program's execution should be interrupted.
The definition - while referencing an information technology world - has great applicability to the work of BreakPoint Solutions. We provide the means for individuals and companies to take an intentional pause, to truly reflect on current status and past journey, to establish or reestablish specific and tangible goals and associated actions, to be truly intentional and purposeful going forward.
In this place of "stopping" we allow our clients to become far more powerful and effective, to shed the unnecessary and focus on key priorities.
In terms of imagery - I'm not looking for "techie". Rather, in my own mind and in the minds of select others the term BreakPoint has conjured up images of the ocean and of waves cresting, breaking at their peak.
On a personal level I have:
* endured great loss, with sudden death of my first wife
* significant "rebirth" through remarriage and fathering of 3 daughters
* a move from unhealthy lifestyle to finisher of several Ironman competitions
* reinvention of myself from a senior leadership career in healthcare to an accomplished executive coach/consultant/thought leader
The goal is to take BreakPoint Solutions to the next level - make a statement!
If any of this helps establish a slogan I'd be interested in seeing this as well.
