South Indian street food
Food & Drink
We sell dosa, a South Indian savoury crepe made from a fermented batter of rice and lentils. Customers can choose from a variety of fillings and each dosa is served with two chutneys. All food is gluten-free and vegetarian with two vegan options. We currently attend street food markets in London and sell to local residents, workers and tourists alike and plan to open a dosa café in the near future. We’re hoping to attract people who have never tried dosa before, as well as providing a quality and authentic South Indian product for those 'in the know'.
We're interested in combination logos – incorporating a stylistic font and pictures, and are also open to the possibility of an emblem design. Overall, the style should be a mixture of pop art, graffiti and comic book influences, and we’d like designers to explore the use of five key elements: 1. ‘Dosa Days’ written in a block letter graffiti / comic book style. (All capitals, or a mixture depending on the font / look.) Really love the ‘blockbuster’ graffiti styles done by Mitch 77, and Iz The Wiz. Please play around with 3D effects, outlines, colours (orange/yellow etc). Should be bold and fun! 2. Sky – after a bit of research it seems that blue isn’t really the colour for food businesses but we’re keen to keep the sky background because of the imagery evoked by ‘Dosa Days’. We’d be interested in seeing ways of reducing the amount of blue with different designs, perhaps by including sun rays and/or more clouds. Alternatively, the sky could have warmer sunrise hues. 3. A sun (yellow/brown/gold) – this should look like / evoke the concentric rings or spiral you can see on a dosa. Please see the attached images. This sun could be partly visible, half visible or full. There may be some sun beams, and while we love the pop art style (also attached), we don’t want it to look Japanese and potentially confuse customers. (Sun beams could possibly be orange and green to evoke the Indian flag, as per the attached). 4. Cloud/s (puffy and fluffy). The sun could be protruding from the clouds, surround the ‘Dosa Days’ lettering, or the clouds could surround an ‘emblem’ design etc. 5. The strapline 'South Indian street food' (lower or upper case depending on font design / whatever works.) This should not be block letters but instead smaller lettering with a look in between a graffiti ‘tag’ style and comic book narrative text (sans serif). See attached 'voice of the ghetto' image and Dick Tracy comic excerpt. Without wanting to complicate the brief, if you’d like to bring in any other colours, green would be good. A lot of our customers are vegan and celiac, so we’d like a nod to this if possible, even just with an accent colour. (Please see the attached green and orange sun beam image as well as text outlines and accents in the Iz The Wiz pic). Please play around with these ideas, we're open to designers bringing their own character to the logo and to see what works! Thanks :)

JCGWdesign was a pleasure to deal with, he replied very quickly and was happy to try any ideas we had, and then make changes as needed. He was very professional, helpful and made the process very easy for us. We really liked his artistic designs, colour choices and are really happy with the final product. Thanks again JCGW
