Create the next logo for Shaolin Kung Fu

What we do: teach Shaolin Kung Fu Target audience: new kung fu students. Although we have classes for people of all ages, our primary target would be kids and youths 4 - 18 years. Ideal audience are students from families with stable income, love kung fu and traditional Chinese culture, and will attend classes consistently.

5/23/2012-4:Thank you for the latest entries, they are looking better and better! We'd like to highlight the elements that we really like in a few designs, PLEASE TRY TO INTEGRATE THESE ELEMENTS INTO YOUR DESIGN. A modification to the previous design brief: Please integrate "Shaolin Kung Fu" and "Xing Xue 2012" into the graphic. Thanks.#58 - we like the hands showing; the glowing sphere of light in the palms of the hands, located at the head of the fish where the eyes would be; we like the circular shape of the logo, and how text is integrated into the logo.#56 - We like the dynamic movement of the fish; the long, lean body shape of the fish; good, un-altered representation of the kung fu figure; the color of the kung fu figure.#54 - Similar to #56, plus the overall rounded overall shape of the logo#47 - we like the natural, swirling, and ambiguous shape of the fish; the cosmic, star/galaxy look of the swirls#30 - the round shape of the logo; the text is integrated into the design. 5/23/2012-3 PLEASE SEE UPLOADED "SKETCH 3.JPG" for concept. I did it quickly in Microsoft Paint to convey the idea. I took the spiral arms of the milky way galaxy, added the kung fu figure. The two spirals look somewhat like fish and it is not clearly a cartoon fish, this is what we are going for. The glowing balls of yin and yang that should be positions at the head of the fish, should be where the hands are. And one of the fish shapes should have warm colors for yang fish. PLEASE USE THIS AS A BASIS AND ADD YOUR GRAPHIC DESIGN/ILLUSTRATION TALENT TO MAKE IT LOOK MORE LIKE A LOGO, THANKS!5/23/2012-2 design brief update:Instead of taking the literal shape of the fish, we would like them to look like the two spiral arms of a swirling galaxy (see "milkywaygalaxy.jpg" below, where the two spiral arms vaguely look like two long and lean fish, with the tails trailing off like tail of a comet or star dust. The meaning of this shape is the concept of tai chi, where everything comes out of nothing, and opposite values compliment each other and have the same origin. The fish body would have lights and colors of nebula (see "fill for body of fish.jpg"). Thanks! 5/23/2012-1 design brief update - your digital illustration talent is needed for this one: 0. Concept: a kung fu figure as shown in "figure_for_logo.jpg" with two yin-yang fish-and-galaxy-like spiral shapes around him, with his hands at the eyes of each "fish". 1. Please adhere to the gesture of the figure in "figure_for_logo.jpg", except for fixing the pocket sticking out, for now. Please do not change the gesture of the figure. 1b. KUNG FU FIGURE COLOR -please see "use_blue_bg_for_kung_fu_figure_color.jpg", and use the blue background on the fabric for flat solid color of the kung fu figure. 2. About the yin-yang fish. 2a. Instead of having distinct fish-look, we'd like them to take the shape and feel of the two spiral arms of a galaxy, particularly the dynamic movement between the two spirals, the glowing balls of colored light & start dust & nebula that make up each spiral arm, and how there isn't a distinct definition of the boundary from one spiral to the other. The heads of the fish can be more defined but the body and tail should be less defined, like galaxy. Please see uploaded "galaxy" files for reference.  This is a good example of yin-yang, where they are essential made out of the same thing and are still dynamically interchangeable.  2b. Please make the fish shapes look more long & slim, almost like dragon, with long trails that suggest tails and fins and whiskers. The head needs to be slim, too, as we do not want them to look like catfish. And please make them *vaguely* like fish and not obvious like cartoon fish. Please refer to 2a. for looking like galaxy spiral arms. 2c. For fish colors - Cool color represents yin, warm color represents yang. Like in tai chi, the yin morphs into yang and morphs back into yin. This change of yin and yang is shown in the color temperatures. See "sketch-2.jpg" for contest holder's idea of colors, and "colors_for_yinyang_fish.jpg" for the concept of color change. Please make the fish look like galaxy with glowing nebula, stars, star dusts, voids, etc 2d. YIN FISH COLORS - the yin fish has predominantly cool colors, especially the head, fins, whiskers, and tail have cool ocean blue color. The fish eye is also where the kung fu figure's hand reaches, it would be a glowing ball of lighter blue color that contrasts in tone with the fish head deep blue color to stand out. 2e. YANG FISH COLORS - the yang fish has predominantly warm colors, especially in the whiskers, fins, tail, and head. The fish eye is a ball of glowing orange/yellow, which contrasts with the deep red color of the head. 3. For the logo we will not need any writing/text/words/characters for now. We can work on the text in the final round. ---------------------------- FOR DESIGNERS WITH INDEPENDENT CONCEPTS ---------------- If you would like to submit your own independent design, here are more background information that might be helpful with understanding "Shaolin Kung Fu" and thus helpful with the conceptual design. 1.
