We need our logo to convey professionalism and sophistication in our field. A logo that at first glance, tells a client we are the top of our industry. We are looking for something strong, formal, but not to the point that it's overwhelming or faux looking. We want to blend in a modern feel, but we aren't too excited about the web's latest trends in logo design (too many look like they come from the same designer). On that note, we don't want to be too trendy, as we want some classic features that make the logo last through time. It is important for our logo to work well with websites, proposals, marketing materials, etc.
We need horizontal and stacked versions of the logo. Our different proposal tools require different layouts of the logo.
With a company name as long as it is, we think it will be important to have part of the logo (possibly an image) dominate the graphic. We want an awesome graphical representation of the "C" (or variation thereof) so that in years to come, we can just post that "C" on a job site sign, hard hat, letter or whatever, and people immediately know that it's Cardella Construction Company.
We want a font in the logo to be a font that makes sense to use on letterheads, emails, proposals and other headers. In other words, the remaining font in our logo can't be so abstract that we can't reproduce it for other means.
We are open to colors. We traditionally like blue' and gray's with highlights of orange or bright green to the gray's. But we are totally open. We just don't want the colors to be too flat.
