Looking for a very simple, clean, minimalist but fun and clever logo.
Something relatively symmetrical, with clean lines/edges, not too
going on, and the less round shapes/curves the better. Please keep
logo flat, refrain from gradients and textures/skeuomorphism.
The word Dojo/dojo/DOJO should receive much more emphasis than
"Communications + Design" if including it in the logo. (this is not
necessary, Dojo can stand on its own) Font must be sans-serif, please
explore both heavy and light-weighted font styles. As noted above,
please stick to one colour - absolutely two tops. Don't be afraid to
use all lower-case letters in your designs.
We'd like to see some creativity (not cheese/cliche!) in terms of
incorporating dojo/Japanese/service element(s) into the logo. Please
refer to some of the logos I included in the brief for examples of
subtle cleverness (nothing obvious/loud/cheesy please). Inequality,
Factory, More, Mosleep, Lochness, The Mansion and Square all use
simple - but clever and non-obvious plays on the names in the design
of the logo. Feel free to explore both the inclusion of subtle
dojo/Japanese elements or some related to presentations, design,
sales, proposals, etc. We would like to see some icon/mark concepts
addition to word marks, something that is simple but could stand on
it's own on a business card, social media profile, favicon, etc.
I can't stress enough, just how much of a simple and minimalist
organization we are, please reflect this in your design concepts.
people see our logo, we'd like them to feel that we are simple but
sophisticated, energetic, clever and fun - but definitely not
unprofessional. We're not looking for overly serious legal/consulting
type of stuff, we do want to preserve some youthfulness and
personality. We don't need the logo to be all that literal or obvious
in its explanation of what it is we do - in fact we'd prefer the a
little more of the opposite. We definitely would prefer something
interesting and clever, but somewhat abstract over something very
obvious in it's portrayal of what we do and stand for.
Please don't be afraid to try some weird/strange/different things -
especially early on!
We'll be providing feedback on the designs we like and/or are
interested in exploring further - if you don't hear from us on a
design, we didn't like the direction you are going in with it.
Thanks, looking forward to working with all of you!
