Faros comes from the word Faro that means "lighthouse" in spanish. It is actually the plural form but I like Faros better than Faro because hearing "Faro" makes one think of the eqyptian pharo.
The company colors would ideally be colors that are serious. I tend to like light blue (water) and gray (seriousness) and want to avoid anything too bright or flashy.
I prefer the a graphic symbol as opposed to a photographic image. The use of a complete lighthouse is discourage bc its been used before. However, at the same time, I do think a part of a lighthouse might be great if its not cheesy. For example, I have the image of the top of a lighthouse with the beam of light shining in my head. That might be cool...Just try to avoid a basic lighthouse graphic...something a bit more edgy and something that brings out precision, guidance, safeharbor as emotions...
