Paleobiology in Novel Ecosystems
We are a research network that brings together researchers form academic, non-profit, and government institutions to explore how data from the distant and recent past can help guide the future of conservation in cities. A key goal of PiNE is to highlight the nature in cities and link an appreciation of the past biodiversity with opportunities for the future. We envision using this logo as the symbol of our research network on our website, on academic presentations, and also for outreach with the general public, like on printed pamphlets or patches.
The name of the group is Paleobiology in Novel Ecosystem (PiNE for short). This could be incorporated either as PiNE in big letters, then spelled out in smaller letters the full name, or just the full name with the first letters emboldened/in different text. Ideally, the logo will be circular, or square, but we are open to other layouts. We are interested in having the circle potentially be bounded by a street (representing city) that gradients into a dirt road or forest, representing the past and future of urban landscapes. For design aesthetic inspiration, please see the Neotoma DB: https://www.neotomadb.org We hope to include a coyote, potentially juxtaposing a living one with a skull. We also hope to include a pine pollen grain and/or a pine tree. We could have a representation of modern city biodiversity like a bird, such as an egret or heron, representing birds on the Los Angeles river. Wildfire is another element that could be potentially included. Buildings could also be a part of showing the city scape. Another option could be showing a little pine tree seedling sprouting from a crack in pavement, and below it roots growing underground past a coyote skull or signal of the past. Another option could be something like this: https://folar.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/FLA132_CU2020-Headers_R2_OCTOBER-WEBCALENDAR.jpg Where all the different tools we use (representing paleontology, archaeology, urban ecology, conservation, different animals from fossil and modern, plants vs. animals, etc) could be in a single design.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $399.

It was a pleasure to work with this designer. Our questions and requests were answered quickly. We asked for several changes until we got exactly what we wanted and were so pleased with the outcome! Thank you so much, we will be in touch if we ever need any work done in the future. :)
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
