Alisha! needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 36 designs submitted by 14 freelance designers.
Learning with Alisha! is an eco-friendly, woman-owned LLC that invents mathematics learning tools and provides professional development opportunities for K-12 and college teachers. We donate 10% of our profit to support education for homeless children.
Learning with Alisha!
Learning with Alisha! is a eco-friendly, woman-owned, socially conscious company. We focus on identifying mathematical concepts for which no manipulatives are currently available in school supply catalogs, then designing products to fill that gap. We also provide workshops, seminars, and consulting services for teachers, focusing on math and engineering education.
Alisha! has a provocative, yet magnetic, personality; hence the exclamation point in my name. I am feminist, anti-racist, and anti-heterosexist.
I need a logo which uses our DBA name "Learning with Alisha!" and a shortened version or icon. What we have now is a logo which I really like, but needs a little more jazz. Please look at it before you submit any designs:

I also have no experience with color vs B&W and color that is good on a web site vs color that prints well. Our current logo is "Learning with Alisha!" in Monotype Corsiva, bold 48; surrounded by a box made of mathematical symbols and numerals in Monotype Corsiva, plain 20.
- This logo is going to be our foundational symbol, so it needs to be robust in terms of usage, e.g. print, web, stationary, packaging, etc.
- Fairly simple design, but instantly recognizable.
- Clip art with people - it's usually sexist and racist in very subtle, but disturbing, ways.
- No true cursive font.
- Drawings of school houses, apples, etc that convey a focus on elementary schools. We service teachers at all levels, pre-school to graduate school.
