Logo Design For Australian Daily Deals Aggregator Website

DealSafari will be a new website that aggregates all daily deals currrently available across australia.
The site enables users of daily deal users to see all daily deals in one place rather than visiting many different sites / receiving multiple daily e-mails.
Examples of other such aggregator sites are http://www.yipit.com and http://www.urbanspoils.com
Daily deals are all about having fun and exploring new things to see and do in the visitors local city. As such our culture is a young, fun, energetic, exciting, vubrant culture and this needs to be refelcetd in the logo design.

Daily deal site users are predominantly college eduated women aged 18-39 with no kids, incomes of $60k per anum plus who browse from work.
The site will target users across all cities and states/territories of Australia.

We are looking for a logo that can be easily used/adapted for use in web and print.
We currently have no identity and as such currently have no colour preferences or style guides. Howver our preference is for cartoon/clip art style using earthy/safari colours.

We would be keen on designs that utilize cartoon/clipart style "safari characters".

An example may be a safari hunter or maybe a lion or other animal in a safari hat, using binoculars to seek out deals which could be reprsented by dollar signs, perhaps with a scoop net (no guns) trying to catch them?!? Maybe with outline of australia in background?
Other ideas - compass, map etc.
