Originally we asked for a logo as we are rebranding. Later we added the brand guide, business card and facebook cover package. THE GREAT's designs stood out from the very beginning of the contest. The work was fluid and forward thinking. In fact, his work came in #1 and #2 of all the choices. He was super good to work with, making changes and adaptations we suggested or he offered creative innovative solutions we would never been able to ourselves. THE GREAT got back to us quickly and always in a timely manner. We appreciated the back and forth communication. We are very pleased and if needing something special in the future, definitely will think of him again.
How Garnold started their logo design journey
The company was started by a registered architect in 2009. We believe that the storage and presentation of drawings for construction projects on mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad will change the way projects are produced. We have therefore produced a series of iPhone applications tailored to the way construction professionals work with drawing images on their hand held devices. The applications perform sketching, noting, measurement and punch list functions. We want the new logo to communicate our unique attitude and the potential of this technological development.
Refer to the company website at Citygraphs.com for more information including a description our applications as well as a discussion of mobile drawing conceptual issues in the Citygraphs blog.
The new logo will be used on the Citygraphs website, on business cards and stationery and in print advertising. It will also be used within a new iPhone/iPad applications interface. We plan to discuss the development of the graphic for this interface with the successful logo designer.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Citygraphs markets its applications to construction professionals including architects, engineers, interior designers and building contractors as well as to other professionals in the construction trades that work with electronic drawings.
Citygraphs has also produced a more consumer oriented application that estimates crowd sizes at outdoor events. Refer to CrowdSize.com for more information. The application will appeal to political organizations, newspapers and police departments.
Another application is under development and will be linked to the website at ufoodieu.com. This applicaiton will appeal to lovers of fine food.
We are also in the process of producing an ebook titled “Drawings in the Palm of Your Hand” that will cover some of the implications associated with the use of drawings on hand held devices. Refer to Drawingsinthepalmofyourhand.com. for additional ideas on our graphic preferences.
The Citygraphs applications have established a general color theme of deep blue (reminiscent of “blue prints”) and the suggestion of traditional drawing tools (scales/rulers, clip boards, tracing paper and drawing templates). We like the font Nobel Light.
A logo already exists on the Citygraphs website that will be retired. This graphic has been used within the shape of an iPhone icon which has some appeal to us. However, it has been difficult to duplicate the gradation of color in other print medium.
We would like to have a logo that has the following qualities:
- Contemporary and bold
- Professional (no cartoons)
- Simple (is legible within the limits of an icon on the screen of the iPhone or iPad)
Here is a list of the logos that we like:
- Install Ideas
Here is a list of the logos that we don’t like:
- UpStage Design
- Car Planet
Do not use any stock images or clip art in the new logo.
