Lingomi
Lingomi is a new website that creates tools for language learners. It's products (initially for Chinese only) focus on helping language students learn and practice their listening and pronunciation skills.
Learning a language is difficult. It takes time, patience and effort. There's no easy-to-find manual on learning languages, which is unfortunate, as most learners end up wasting a lot of time working through boring lessons, studying irrelevant words, and generally doing things they don't need to do. A viscous cycle of time wasted (on studying boring lessons, memorizing irrelevant words), slow progress, and decreased motivation causes learners to get frustrated and give up. Lingomi wants to help language learners simplify their study experience by giving them better tools and useful information on our blog.
The target audience varies: most are young college-age students, but the site would also be used by middle/high school students, and adults of all ages.
I want a logo that's emphasizes the sites goals: to help language learners, to offer personalized tools. Simplicity is key to the design. I don't have any preconceived idea of what the logo should look like, so please be creative.
If you'd like to, you can include a tagline. The tagline I'm currently looking at is "Personalized Listening Practice" or "Personalized Audio Practice". If you have a better idea for a tagline, please include it. :)
I'm leaning towards oranges and yellows for the site colors, but might change my mind.
And of course the logo must have the name of the site "Lingomi".
No stock images please.
---Update---
Some possible metaphors to look into:
speech bubbles, headphones, earbuds, mp3 players (keep it simple), ears, etc. Any image that has to do with listening would work.
