I don't like logos that are literal interpretations of a network -- as an example, images of people connected by a line. I don't like circles connected by lines either. I'm looking for something more abstract, something that will inspire ACTION through CONNECTIVITY. Simplicity and sophistication are key.
If you do choose to put "Administrative Data Research Facilities Network", you can emphasize the "Administrative Data" and "Network" part of the long name. We also know that the name is a mouthful. :)
Although the target audience will be professors and PhD researchers, we don't want it to look completely traditional -- this is a new initiative in an emerging field and we want the logo to reflect that.
Although administrative data is a major focus, it'd be great if the logo also reflected the connectivity/collaboration aspect of it. Again, not people or circles connected by lines.
We would prefer a more abstract logo since our mission and focus is pretty broad now.
