I'm looking for something simple, yet professional. Nothing too formal or ornate though. It is for a personal financial planning company, so it needs to be something which can be taken seriously, but I don't want anything too boring and stodgy. It needs to be clean and unique. I chose the name "Tenon" Financial for the company because I am passionate about woodworking. Google "mortise and tenon," and you will see what a tenon is. It is a type of joint used in woodworking. With that in mind, I have a loose idea for a logo (see the included JPG). It is a combined letter "T" and "F" (for Tenon Financial), but the little horizontal middle part of the "F" is a tenon from a mortise and tenon joint. I'm pretty sure I'd like to have the final logo incorporate those two ideas: 1) a combined T and F and 2) a tenon clearly incorporated into the design. But perhaps rotate the design a little and come up with something which is like a view from a slightly offset angle (as opposed to my JPG which is looking directly at the design).
As for the general look and feel of what I'm thinking of, see the attached Word file which has some sample logos that I like. I definitely want the words "Tenon Financial" to be next to the logo somewhere. As for the slogan "Retirement Planning & Investment Management," I don't think that NEEDS to be incorporated into the logo. I will generally use that slogan (so people know what Tenon Financial does), but that could basically just be a separate tagline whose placement relative to the logo will be dependent on what medium it is on (i.e. business card vs shirt vs banner, etc.)
