I am a programmer actively in the software development community. I speak at user groups and conferences as well as participate in the online community. What I’ve noticed is that there is a lot of separate silo’d communities and no dominate social aggregation platform for developers.
Think of this site as a Linkedin for developers. Developers can connect with colleagues, synch their accounts with StackOverflow, GitHub, BitBucket, SpeakerRate, SlideShare, etc. User groups can manage their events, calendars, and look for speakers. Users can locate what user groups are in their area and say they are going to attend an event.
Conferences can also advertise and/or use the site to get registrations.
It’s an ambitious undertaking but pieces of functionality will begin to be rolled out at the beginning of December. And I would like to have a fantastic logo to use to start promoting the site.

The target audience is other software developers. Especially leaders of the software development community. The target audience will also be user group and conference organizers.
