smcneas got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Refreshed logo concept for seasoned geotechnical company
Check out smcneas's Logo design contest…
Crux is a geotechnical engineering and construction company. Founded as a specialty drilling contractor our services have expanded substantially since then and the logo feels non-inclusive as well as outdated. Today, we provide drilling, foundation design + construction, risk assessment and program management services to the electric power infrastructure industry (primarily) as well was for dams, tunnels, bridges, highways, and other infrastructure projects. Our team includes structural and geotechnical engineers as well as drillers, construction managers, geologists, and program management specialists. Innovation and problem solving have always been at the core of our business, and we take great pride in our employees and client relationships.
Our current logo and brand elements can be viewed on our website: www.cruxsub.com. The original icon part of the logo (the green/white/gray C) was originally intended to look like a borehole, which fit our original scopes of services. Today, we are looking to refresh the logo to be more inclusive and modernized. You can also find several photos, videos, etc. on our website - www.cruxsub.com. Please note that our technical services are not listed on this site as we recently re-integrated 2 companies. The Quanta Subsurface website (www.quantasubsurface.com) shows the technical services we now offer since our integration. As far as logo preferences, we've explored some icon/name combo options that have not resonated with our leadership team, so we are now leaning toward a wordmark of our name, CRUX, only. In the design we would be open to seeing some sort of design element incorporated into the X of our name. That being said, our team would be open to an icon/word combo if we saw the right one. Our team is a bit split on color palette with half wanting to stick with green tones and the other half looking to deviate. Similarly, half feel that we should treat this as more of a brand refresh, keeping enough of the current brand elements to remain recognizable to our customers while the others feel we should start with something fresh. Lots of conflicting opinions and I think we'll need to see something we like to know which direction we ultimately want to go. We do know we'd like to keep the name "Crux" but we do not need to keep the “subsurface, inc.” distinction. That being said, we will need to have a version that includes the "A Quanta Services" tagline and a version that does not. So we are essentially needing: New wordmark logo options (some with a green palette and some without), possible ideas for an icon to accompany a wordmark logo, and a version of the logo with the "A Quanta Services" subline.
