Shellfish Growers of Virginia (SGV) is a group of companies and individuals that farm shellfish in the wild or in captivity. Right now the majority of the farmers are raising oysters and clams, but we expect to see aquaculture of other products take off in the coming years including but not limited to crabs, shrimp, mussels, scallops...etc. The farms are found on both the eastern and western shores of the Chesapeake Bay as well as the seaside bays of Virginia. Our industry is one of the few that is producing a sustainable seafood product of the highest quality, while at the same time providing environmental benefits (clean water). The farms/companies range in size from long standing family owned oyster houses to new growers with just a few years of experience. What bonds these companies together is a solid work ethic of never give up- never give in, a love for the water and their products they harvest from them, and an absolute belief that they are doing something environmentally friendly while at the same time economically feasible.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The audience would be the general public especially Virginians, but more specifically the lawmakers of Virginia our elected officials who make the rules that dictate what we can and can't do out on/in the waters of Virginia, we want them to know who we are and that we stand as a unified voice. Also the growers themselves both in Virginia and around the country as well as the companies who buy our products.
Below are logos for three other associations, all of which are pretty bland. http://www.ncagr.gov/markets/aquacu…/NCSG.html http://www.pcsga.org/ http://www.ecsga.org/
We want a logo that says Virginia is here and we do this stuff better than anyone. The state has a long and rich heritage in this industry so there is some pride woven into what we do.
We want a logo that someone would like to have on a hat or shirt but not cartoonish and not so stagnant or convoluded that you dont know what it is.
You can use "SGV" as long as somewhere "shellfish growers of virginia" is written out. However, a plain text logo of SGV with what it stands for isn't enough, we can do that.
We would like logo files that can be used in a website and that can be printed out on brochures and merchandise(hats shirts), certainly more potential for more business with us.
Below is a link to a blog post with a couple of the companies in the industry and their web sites, this might help you see who we are. http://chesbayoysterco.blogspot.com…in-va.html
another company http://www.hmterryco.com/Sewansecot…/Home.html http://www.bayoyster.com is our company another one you can look at.
Any tag lines for the logo would be welcome also.
Let us know what else might help you.
