The process of choosing, editing and comparing all of the various logo designs was made much easier due to the response time provided by mcollom. Color changes were always fast and our design changes were received with no down time. Thank you mcollom and all of the great designers who worked with us on our new logo!
How rockyslaughter started their logo design journey
Slaughter House Studios
My name is Rocky Slaughter. I am starting a new pro photography business and am looking for a sweet logo that will highlight my semi-satirical approach to high-end photography. I will specialize in portraits and landscape prints but want everyone to know that I'm just a run-of-the-mill approachable guy behind a super flashy and high glamour looking facade. Think of Austin Powers and what his photography studio logo would look like if it were around today... A clean logo is important, but it can look kind of cheesy... as this is the point. Previously, I ran this studio out of my college dorm room and this was the promotional picture... if this gives you an idea of what I'm looking for...
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I will take photos of pretty much anyone who will pay me. I'm trying to eventually market myself to the network of magazine photographers. For now, though, I will mainly shoot models, business headshots, and maybe newly wed couples. Perhaps I will get artsy. I really don't know yet!
I am looking for some big creativity here since my mind is drawing a bunch of blanks. You can incorporate the "Slaughter" theme into your logo if you want... or it could be the opposite - a clean, sort of ironic look. Bold and over-the-top style is encouraged. Think Austin Powers or Bruno or Zoolander ;)
I have two requests and then only one requirement.
The request is...
If the logo can be used as an icon (for the favicon on my site or for the icon on burned cds) that is a super bonus.
Second request is that the logo will probably be used at some point as the header for a website. It would be nice if the logo were at least semi-rectangular with the width being greater than the height. That will also work better for business cards.
You can break these two rules if you want.
The requirement is...
I'd like a vector file at the end so that I can tweak it if necessary.
Have fun! This is far from a serious business logo that you may be used to designing.
