Our company sells games - non-video games. That is, we sell board games, collectible gaming cards, collectible miniatures, role playing games (paper book ones), supplies like dice, card sleeves, dice towers, etc.
Our audience is hobby gamers - generally those to whom this is a fairly serious hobby, they buy often. Our main buyers purchase Magic The Gathering cards, Yugioh cards, Naruto cards, D&D miniatures, Star Wars miniatures, D&D role playing games, Euro board games, dice, card sleeves, deck boxes and the like.
Note that very few of our sales are traditional games (chess, checkers, playing cards, etc.) You should really visit our website before designing a logo, spend a few minutes looking at the top selling products, to get a better feel for our audience and our merchandise mix.
We would like the logo in cmyk, .ai format.
Our current logos are here: http://www.trollandtoad.com/logo.php
We think, however, you might want to avoid trying to put an actual troll and toad in the logo, or at least, try to avoid both. I'm looking for more simple designs than the ones shown on my page.
Some ideas: perhaps using some of the hobby game pieces as part of the design in some way. Some of the symbols associated with our companies' products include card (ccg card, not playing card), playing pieces (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German-style_board... ), miniature (http://www.trollandtoad.com/Collectible-Miniatu... ), hexagon ( http://grognard.com/ ), dice (http://www.trollandtoad.com/Gaming-Supplies-&-D... ) etc.
Some of the logos we like are those of Playboy, Apple, Nike, Shell, Starbucks, Superman. These are all very simple logos, often only 1-2 colors, and yet each invokes the brand very well.
