Qualities of my logo...
I want it to be fun, but professional.
Simple, but not plain.
Creative, but clean.
Meaningful and quietly authoritative.
Playful/magical, but not cute/childish/cheesy.
Alive and inviting, but not loud and commercial-y.
Authentic, friendly, and refreshing.
I see my logo as a welcome sign to my blog, that's it. I'm told it may be more under the category of a "masthead." e.g. thedailylove.com.
For color, I feel like it's mainly going to be in the logo as a compliment to the lettering, font, image. But please explore all options.
As far as a symbol/photo goes, the obvious one that comes to mind in regards to the word "light" is a light bulb. But, I'm NOT drawn to that. It doesn't resonate to my site.
When someone sees a light bulb they think of "ideas" and of the intellect., which isn't what my site represents. My site focuses on our heart-centered and rich inner world. The term light itself is interchangeable with heart, but not a "light bulb."
I'm thinking more along the lines of rays and glow. Something that emanates a radiance, but in a subtle, not overly-boisterous way. My site is speaking to the individual sun or glow within us all. Light is tricky because it's not something tangible and is white. May need to play with negative spacing?
That said, I see my website as being a 'highly conscious classroom.' It's a university and blog for your spirit similar to that of thedailylove.com, but completely unique in its own way. The Hogwarts of the 'Self-Growth' world.
This classroom idea could be the route to go if a symbol is to be included. Whatever comes to mind, a chalkboard, an open book, a journal, a desk, may all be worth exploring. Whatever ideas you have, I'm listening.
Whatever guides your creative sails, go for it. I'm open to the magic.
Finally, if you'd like me to share any of my writings with you for an even clearer picture, I can.
