This is a new initiative that is being launched by an artist management company called Cadenza Artists (http://www.cadenzaartists.com) which focuses on classical and jazz genres of music.
This initiative will involve musical artists both from Cadenza Artists roster and others who have had experiences overcoming bullying. In addition we will rally the voices of all artists to speak out against bullying.
Voices Against Bullying will organize events such as performances at schools across the United States, during which the musicians will perform a special program of songs deeply connected to their own experiences with bullying, and share stories meant to inspire students while also bringing more awareness and discourse to the issue of bullying. The artists will also work more closely with students through a series of workshops the day of the concert. In addition, a broad range of artists will be able to comment via the web site against bullying.
The goal of the initiative is to combat bullying through musical expression. In addition we want to give those who are being bullied hope and to understand the incredible groups of artists that had at one time been bullied. Music, as we all know, has such a deep impact on people, and can penetrate one's soul and communicate a message in a way that words simply cannot, alone.
Here is more information about Laurie Rubin, one of the artists leading the charge on this project, and her recent music video:
