Fishingtonstudios got their new app design by running a design contest:
Beautiful iPad "Boxes and Notebooks" App Design Contest
Check out Fishingtonstudios's App design contest…
Project Box is a productivity application designed as a way for a user to create and organize their notes and memos The application will contain a series of boxes which the user can swipe through. Inside each box, a user can create notebooks which hold pages such as text or handwriting. I have added the 2 most important screens here for design. There are other sunscreens which must be completed as well. When a designer is found whose work most closely resembles the vision and direction of this app, I'll be happy to work with them on a 1-on-1 basis to for the rest of the project. The Application will be a universal app (iPhone and iPad), though I am just focusing on the iPad interface at the moment. Created graphics must be sized for Retina display on the new iPad
The most important aspect of this project is the design of the box and the notebook. Overall, the app will have a wooden theme, and it's goal is to give the user the impression that they are working with beautifully crafted boxes which they have created. Once a box is selected. They should feel like they are interacting and working inside the box they have chosen. Colors should be conservative yet beautiful. Ultimately, the user will be able to choose between several different box woods and notebook colors to add variety. For the boxes, think of woods like oak, mahogany, cedar, blackwood, etc. For notebooks, colors should be complementary to the boxes. Think dark blues, blacks, grays, etc
Project Box (this is not set in stone)
The First Screen is the home screen. It will hold all the boxes a user has made. Try to think of a beautiful zen minimalist interface which has wooden Boxes the user has created. The user can interact with this screen by paging though boxes. I've added an image of the current First View below. If a box is touched, it will enlarge to fill the screen, and the top of the box will fade away to show its contents, which will be the Second View. The Second View will appear as though the users are looking down into the box they have touched in the first screen. It will look like the inside of the box, and must appear to have depth. This view will contain the notebooks which the user has created. Think of an interface which looks like the inside of a box with notebook objects a user has created. You can see an image of the current Second View below.
